CEN Golf Day: May 19 is
the date for the eighth annual
CEN Scholarship Golf Day at
The Edison Club in Rexford.
Proceeds will go towards four
$1,000 college scholarships.
Cost is $200 per golfer or
$700 for a foursome. Contact

Shaker Ridge: The team of
Greg Bennett, Gregg Ander¬
son, Jim Sinkins and Mike
Franzee posted 62 to win the
opening scramble at Shaker
Ridge Country Club.
Tied with 63s were the
teams of Al Stranahan, Gavin
Donohue, Dick Kendall and
Denis Boyce; and Mike Crisa¬
fulli, Sang Kim, Rich Barlette
Jr. and Mark Freedman.
Harold Clark fired a 1-under-
par 70 yesterday to take the
lead in a senior event.
Kelly Team Wins: Former
New York State Women’s golf
champion Mary Jo Kelly led a
quartet of golfers to first place
in a low net event at Wolferts
Roost Country Club.
Kathleen Murphy, Theresa
Igoe and Evelyn McLauchlin
joined Kelly with a 145 and first
place. Finishing six strokes
behind were Patty Baynes,
Diane Hans, Carolyn Moore
and Helen Adams.
The team of Ann Marie
Dunn, Maureen Klein, Lucille
Puleo and Barbara Healy post¬
ed 178 and finished first in the
Roost Division.
In men’s competiton at
Roost, Randy Duncan and Joe
Crisafulli won low gross and
David Taub and Nick Frangella
captured low net in the Spring
Classic.
Blaise Aluise carded a 70 to
finish first in a Normanside
Country Club seniors event.
Second with 73 was Art
Roberts. Another two shots
behind was Jim McHenry.
Tony Cowles won the kickers
event.
In yesterday’s seniors
scramble, Dave Essex Sr., Pat
Furlong, Mike Codella and
George Lenhardt finished first
at Normanside with a 71.
Carding 37, Matt Salvadore
won low gross laurels at
Mechanicville Golf Club. He
finished five shots ahead of
Ray Shakon. Steve Ciulla won
low net honors with 31.
At Van Schaick Island Coun¬
try Club, Pat Morphy won the
Thursday Shoot-Out. Jim Con¬
roy finished second and Jay
Fuller was third. Joe Muscatel¬
lo won low gross laurels in a
Saturday sweeps.
Bob Irwin, Lee Smith and
Mike Plowinske were the big
winners in a Double Best Nine
at Country Club of Troy.
Burden Lake: Dave DeGen¬
ero teamed with Tom Sharpe
for 73 to win low gross honors
at Burden Lake Country Club’s
spring guest day. Taking low
net were Joe Farone and Gary
Leya with 63.
Burden Lake will host an
ESPN National Two-Man Chal¬
lenge on June 1. Winners will
advance to a regional qualifier.
Burden Lake CC head pro
Brian Hampson, and club
members John Cooney and
Dan Ireland advanced to the
finals last year in Las Vegas.
