Enjoy breathtaking views from this 18 hole Championship Golf Course located in the heart of the beautiful Rondout Valley in upstate New York. Rondout Golf Club has been serving the Hudson Valley golfer’s needs for over 20 years. In a valley of its own, it provides unparalled views of the Catskills & Shawangunk Mountains. Offering one of the best layouts in the area, Rondout has hosted every major championship in the Valley. This year Rondout is hosting the final round of the Hergdegen Championship, as well as the Team and Senior Championship held there annually. A Par 72 of just over 6,500 yards, every hole provides a clear view from the tee that allows even the first time visitor great definition of the hole ahead. Known for its quick and undulating greens, there are also numerous water hazards adding to the challenging layout. The signature hole would be the par 3 fifth hole which plays between 130-185 yards, all over water, to a well trapped green. Upon reaching the green safely, the player then deals with a slick 2 tier green. With 5 par fives and par threes, you will encounter a wide variety of challenging shots. Although Rondout is open for public play, memberships at Rondout create a feeling of belonging. Although rates are very affordable, members enjoy a variety of discounts, social events, leagues and tournaments designed to give them the feel of a private club. Many great times and friendships have been created amongst those belonging to the club. In addition to a course with a challenging layout, there is a driving range, practice green and fully stocked pro shop carrying Taylormade, Callaway, Cobra and Ping equipment. For an après golf drink with your friends or a delicious dinner with your family, Ivan’s restaurant is the perfect place. Or perhaps lunch "at the turn" is your preference. A large banquet room, a cozy bar and great views from our deck make Ivan's the ideal restaurant to host your party, reunion, wedding reception, awards presentation dinner, or outing. About the Course Designed by Hal Purdy and built in 1969, Rondout Golf Club is a challenging 18-hole layout featuring tough greens and plenty of water hazards. Fairway grass is fescue and various rye mixes with over-seeded poa annua/bent grass greens. Several elevation changes add to both the charm and difficulty, yet do not seriously impede the golfer who prefers to walk. Local players will be quick to tell you when you play Rondout Golf Club, "Don't miss left", and it's a good rule of thumb. Keep this in mind when you visit, and we'll keep an eye out for you. The first hole is a slight dogleg right par four with an elevated tee that looks down over the fairway. The second hole is a straight-away par five with an elevated tee. The stream runs down the left side of the hole from 250 yards in. The green is guarded by a trap on the right and slopes steeply away on the left. Keep your tee shot in the left center of the freeway. The third hole is a slightly uphill par 3. Normally the safe miss is to the right of the green, as the rough falls away quickly on the left side. Long is also a problem especially when the pin is back short left can be okay if you’re not too far from the green. The 4th hole is a long par five with a narrow fairway and trees and water right and water out of bounds left. The two tiered green is protected on both sides by sand traps. The fifth hole is a par three over a pond, and is Rondout’s signature hole. The green is guarded on the right by water and surrounded by traps on other sides. The sixth hole is a slight dog leg right par four with a two-tiered, elevated green. Keep your tee shot away from the right rough or you’ll be blocked by the big willow. The seventh hole is a par three with a green that slopes from left to right. There is a bank behind and to the left of the green which often creates favorable bounces. The eighth hole is a par four with an elevated tee that looks down on the fairway. The green is guarded by a pond on the front- right and a trap on the front-left. The ninth hole is a long uphill par four with pine trees on the left and right of the fairway. The approach shot is to a green guarded by traps on the right and left. The tenth hole is a par four with an elevated tee. The approach shot is to a slightly elevated green with traps on the front-left. The eleventh hole is a downhill par four with a stream along the left side. The green slopes towards the fairway and is guarded by trap on the right side. The twelfth hole is a par three with a two tiered green. If your shot is on the wrong tier, the birdie putt can be very difficult. The thirteenth hole is a long and narrow par five with water on the right and left. The fairway slopes towards the water hazards. The second shot will usually have to be a lay-up, unless your drive is very long. The fourteenth hole is a par four with a pond in front of the green. The green can be reached by a long driver, but the safe shot is an iron off of the tee. The fifteenth hole is another long and narrow par five, with water on the right and out of bounds on the left. The fairway slopes to the right, making the second shot difficult. The Sixteenth hole is a par three across a pond. The green is slightly elevated with thick grass surrounding it. The seventeenth hole is a short par five that narrows at the 150-yard marker. There is out of bounds and water to the left, as well as a pond in the front-right of the green. The eighteenth hole is an uphill par four with a green that runs away and to the right on the approach shot. The Fairway is narrow, and the green is guarded by a large tree on the front-left.
